Have you been involved in a tricky situation involving a colleague at work and it seems that a face-to-face discussion will not help in resolving the conflict? Are you a manager or supervisor responsible for team members who are in conflict? Are you about to participate in a facilitated discussion with another staff member or parent? These challenging behaviours are likely to have a negative impact on the work environment and may need to be resolved by a manager or supervisor who is acting as a facilitator. It is ideal if contentious issues can be resolved:
- Early
- Informally
- By the most appropriate people
In this one-hour online course you will learn the key aspects of the process of facilitated discussions can be used to resolve workplace conflict. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the differences between facilitation and mediation
- Understand the three concepts that underpin a successful facilitation (natural justice, decision making and reasonable management action)
- Assess a case scenario involving conflict between staff members for its suitability for a facilitated discussion
- Recall the components of a facilitation process and how these are expressed in an opening statement at a facilitation
